Overview

CEEJH INC (Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice & Health) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing environmental justice through community-led research, advocacy, and education. As the organization transitioned to an independent nonprofit, it sought to create a new digital presence that reflected its mission, highlighted its initiatives, including the upcoming 2025 Environmental Justice and Health Disparities Symposium, and introduced its new Climate Justice Fellows program.

Challenge

CEEJH’s previous website, hosted on Squarespace, no longer represented the organization’s growing scope or visual identity. The content was outdated and lacked straightforward navigation to key programs and events. The timeline for launching the new website was tight, with a goal of completing design, content integration, and user testing ahead of the symposium’s promotional cycle.

Approach/Solution

Black Digital Group developed a modern, mission-driven website that showcases CEEJH’s work and provides an intuitive user experience for partners, fellows, and community members.

Our UI/UX designer created fresh layouts, starting with wireframes and mockups, which were delivered within two weeks. We built a structured content tracker to help CEEJH organize and submit materials efficiently. Then, BDG developed a fully functional website that incorporated all approved content, visuals, and structural updates. We also embedded Whova, CEEJH’s event management platform, directly into the site to streamline Symposium registration and access.

Using BugHerd for user acceptance testing, we managed extensive client feedback, implemented multiple layout revisions, and ensured the final design reflected CEEJH’s exact specifications. Finally, BDG trained CEEJH’s internal team to update and maintain the site and provided a detailed user manual for future reference.
