Key Complexity:
Dual conversion goals (applications and donations), multiple departments with self-service content editing, dynamic application forms that adapt based on program selection, legacy CMS constraints
Wesley Theological Seminary needed to solve for two conversion paths simultaneously: prospective student applications and donations. The existing site had an outdated design, a backend that burdened staff, and no clear path guiding visitors from initial interest through application.
Department heads needed the ability to manage their own content without relying on outside developers.
Black Digital designed the new site around the visitor journey, with visual inspiration drawn from stained glass windows—tying the seminary’s artistic heritage to modern layout. Dynamic application forms adapt based on the program a prospective student selects so applicants only answer relevant questions.
Department heads were given role-based permissions so each could edit only their areas without touching the rest of the site. A mega-menu keeps the full site within three clicks of any page. The donation process was simplified to one clear path, with “Start Your Application” CTAs placed at key decision points.
Staff can now update content and manage program pages directly without relying on outside developers. Prospective students have a clearer path from interest through application.
