The National Sigma Beta Club Foundation exists to do something essential: equip young men with the values, skills, and vision to lead. Rooted in the legacy of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity — founded at Howard University in 1914 — the Foundation carries forward a century of mentorship through programs in academic enrichment, business training, health and wellness, and community service. The young men who come through Sigma Beta Club go on to colleges, careers, and fraternities. Their digital presence needed to reflect that ambition.
When the Foundation came to Black Digital, their website was holding them back. The design felt sparse and visually flat — short on the graphics and energy needed to communicate the organization’s mission and legacy. Brand colors, a core part of any organization’s identity, weren’t showing up the way they should.
Functionally, the site had real problems. Slow load times frustrated visitors. Broken links and poor redirects were generating 404 errors on key navigation pages. For an organization trying to reach young people, parents, donors, and chapter leaders, a site that didn’t work wasn’t just an inconvenience — it was a barrier.
We started with structure — building a new wireframe that gave us a clean foundation to overhaul navigation, eliminate dead links, and create a more intuitive flow through the site. From there, we focused on bringing the brand to life visually, centering the Foundation’s official colors and integrating imagery of members past and present to reflect the culture of brotherhood and achievement at the heart of the organization.
Updated infographics aligned with the new design, and performance improvements brought load times down significantly — so visitors could move through the site without friction, whether they were exploring programs, reading success stories, or looking for chapter resources.
The redesigned sigmabetaclub.org is faster, more cohesive, and finally looks like the organization it represents. Chapter leaders, young members, donors, and community partners now have a polished digital home that reflects the Foundation’s commitment to developing the next generation of leaders — and tells that story with the clarity and pride it deserves.
