Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH)

Overview

CEEJH INC (Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing environmental justice through community-led research, advocacy, and education. As the organization transitioned to an independent nonprofit, they sought to establish a new digital presence that would reflect their expanded mission, showcase their initiatives—including the upcoming 2025 Environmental Justice and Health Disparities Symposium—and introduce their new Climate Justice Fellows program to partners and community members.

Challenge

CEEJH’s previous website, hosted on Squarespace, no longer represented the organization’s growing scope or visual identity. The content was outdated and lacked straightforward navigation to key programs and events. With a tight timeline ahead of the symposium’s promotional cycle, CEEJH needed a complete website redesign that would position them as a leading voice in environmental justice while providing an intuitive user experience for diverse stakeholder groups.

Our Approach / Solution

Black Digital developed a modern, mission-driven website that showcases CEEJH’s work and provides an accessible, user-friendly experience for partners and community members.

Strategic Planning and Design
Our UI/UX designer created fresh layouts beginning with wireframes and mockups, which were delivered within two weeks of project initiation. We developed a structured content tracker to help CEEJH organize and submit materials efficiently, ensuring smooth collaboration throughout the design process.

Development and Integration
We built a fully functional website incorporating all approved content, visuals, and structural updates. A critical component was the seamless integration of Whova, CEEJH’s event management platform, directly into the site to streamline Symposium registration and participant access.

User Testing and Refinement
Using BugHerd for user acceptance testing, we managed extensive client feedback and implemented multiple layout revisions to ensure the final design precisely reflected CEEJH’s specifications and organizational identity.

Training and Enablement
Black Digital trained CEEJH’s internal team to update and maintain the site independently. We provided a detailed user manual for future reference, empowering staff to manage content without ongoing technical support.
