The Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum is Maryland’s official museum of African American history and culture, located in historic downtown Annapolis. After completing a comprehensive rebrand, the museum needed a digital marketing partner to introduce the new creative direction, grow their audiences, and drive meaningful engagement with DMV residents and travelers. What they also needed was structure: a consistent process that could organize content, manage approvals, and produce high-quality work at scale.
The museum had strong programming and a refreshed brand, but lacked the systems to translate that into a consistent, high-performing digital presence. Without a structured workflow, content was reactive and approvals were slow, creating risk of inconsistency across channels. The goal was to build something that could run reliably month after month.
Our social media team stepped in and immediately built the infrastructure the museum needed. We developed a monthly content calendar aligned with museum programming and cultural observances, created branded graphic and newsletter templates to ensure visual consistency, and established a weekly meeting cadence to keep approvals streamlined. The creative drew from the museum’s architectural identity, using the building itself as a primary visual anchor paired with a bold color palette that made every post instantly recognizable. Content strategy emphasized authentic storytelling, community connection, and event promotion, which resonated strongly with audiences and produced several posts with viral reach.
