Background
CLC is a non-partisan organization that advocates for every eligible voter to meaningfully participate in the democratic process. Its team works with local partners to restore votes to the formerly incarcerated and to protect everyone’s voting rights. Through litigation, policy advocacy, and outreach, CLC makes systemic impact at all levels of government.
The Challenge
CLC needed an updated web presence to reach its target audience of all eligible American voters to ensure their fundamental rights remain protected. Specifically, CLC’s “Restore Your Vote” campaign – which restores voting rights to people with past convictions, including disenfranchised Black male voters – needed increased awareness in its target demographics of people of color in the South.
The Solution
Black Digital used the power of Facebook ads to bring far-reaching visibility to the “Restore Your Vote” campaign. We also created engaging audience personas demonstrating how to properly navigate the voting process. We designed CLC’s website to be aesthetically pleasing and functional, with featured resources and news updates about attacks on voting rights at the top of the page.
Results
By generating thousands of qualified leads, we helped CLC restore the voting rights of hundreds of BIPOC voters. Our Facebook ads campaign reached nearly a million users and received more than five million impressions. CLC’s “Restore Your Vote” toolkit was cited as a key resource in the Department of Justice’s Guide to State Voting Rules That Apply After Criminal Convictions.
