The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-run organizations in the United States. Founded in 1975 at Purdue University, NSBE’s mission centers on increasing the number of Black engineers in academia and industry. Its Annual Convention draws thousands of students, professionals, corporate partners, and industry leaders — making it one of the most significant gatherings in engineering education each year.
With the 2026 Annual Convention on the horizon, NSBE needed a complete visual and digital ecosystem built to scale. The scope required a unified brand identity that could perform consistently across print, digital, environmental, and presentation formats — all aligned to a fixed convention timeline and coordinated across multiple internal stakeholders.
Black Digital managed two parallel workstreams — creative services and web development — from August 2025 through the March 2026 convention.
We developed a modular visual identity from the ground up: color palette, typography, layout guidelines, and a scalable graphic framework built to adapt across every deliverable without losing cohesion. Asset categories included convention branding, sponsor pitch decks, segmented email newsletter layouts, social media templates with Canva conversions, badge and check-in screen design, onsite signage and wayfinding, pole banners, digital billboards, chapter marketing toolkits, virtual event backgrounds, and opening session presentation templates.
Template systems were built for recurring asset categories, enabling NSBE’s internal team to maintain visual consistency throughout the convention lifecycle and beyond.
We redesigned and maintained the full convention website on WordPress, structured around NSBE’s phased content rollout across registration, housing, sponsor engagement, and logistics milestones. The work included a full site audit, 2026 brand integration, multi-page navigation with microsite-style architecture, and ongoing content publishing — speaker bios, session descriptions, travel information, sponsor spotlights, and downloadable toolkits. We also configured Google Analytics, set up UTM tracking, optimized for mobile responsiveness, completed accessibility remediations, and delivered CMS documentation with workflow setup for the NSBE communications team.
Every deliverable was completed on time to support the March 2026 convention. The full visual system created a consistent, professional branded environment across digital screens, physical signage, marketing materials, and the convention website — from the first promotional email through on-site execution.
NSBE’s communications team left the engagement with editable templates, CMS documentation, and an internal content workflow they could operate independently.
